AFR Women’s Cooperative Focuses on Blood Drives

As many of you know the 2017 Initiative for the Women’s Cooperative (WC) is the “Wanted” Blood Drives in partnership with the Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI). The WC state council has challenged local and county AFR members to get a donor from every county to a blood drive throughout 2017. Year to date AFR has hosted and partnered in 9 communities. Through these events 278 people were able to donate, saving 834 lives. With 13 more scheduled in 2017 we know this is making a real difference to Oklahoma families and our rural communities. To schedule your local blood drive through OBI, contact Sharon Ash at sharon.ash@obi.org or call 405-419-1374.

On May 1, fifteen WC initiative grants were awarded to local and county AFR organizations to assist in hosting local blood drives. Five of these were sponsored by the AFR agents association through a generous $1,000 donation.
