AFR Launches Collegiate American Farmers & Ranchers Program at OSU
Students in the Oklahoma State University College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources chartered the first Collegiate American Farmers & Ranchers student organization, Feb. 1. CAFR offers agricultural students an opportunity to grow their leadership skills with emphasis on education, cooperation and legislation by meeting with agricultural professionals in Oklahoma.
“Growing up in their youth programs, I’m excited to help bring all things I’ve loved about AFR to our college,” said Ryan Danker, an agricultural economics junior. “I am currently working with a group of students to advance the new student organization as CAFR vice president.”
CAFR will be working with the Leadership Exploration and Development or LEAD program for adult AFR members to provide opportunities for students to travel throughout the school year. Officers have planned for CAFR members to visit the state capitol, livestock producers and other agricultural practices in Oklahoma.
CAFR strives to help develop collegiate members to be successful in their future careers in the agricultural industry by providing them with opportunities to advance their professional development. The first CAFR meeting is set to take place March 1. For more information about this new student organization contact Ryan Danker at ryan.danker@okstate.edu.
