AFR Opposes Federal Budget Cuts

American Farmers & Ranchers President Terry Detrick issued the following statement today, opposing federal budget cuts to agriculture programs.

“President Trump’s proposal to cut $231 billion from the farm bill spending, including $28.5 billion over 10 years from the crop insurance budget, rips the safety net from beneath our farmers and ranchers. In recent year we’ve experienced drought, wildfires, blizzards and floods that have wrecked crops and destroyed livestock in the High Plains. Meanwhile, the federal government has moved to restrict market access and make it more difficult to export our commodities. “

“Farmers and ranchers are under tremendous stress right now to feed their families, and the families of everybody else.”
