AFR sponsored the cattle grading contest at the Tulsa State Fair on Tuesday, October 4th.
More than 200 young people from around the state participated in the annual American Farmers & Ranchers Leadership Summit, July 24-29.
Participants learned such skills as setting and achieving short- and long-term goals and working in teams. They also learned the value of personal responsibility, respect for their peers and many other positive attributes.
The American Farmers & Ranchers Youth Advisory Council was started more than 30 years ago and has produced numerous outstanding young leaders.
The youth advisory council members for 2015-2016 are Ashley Tucker, Grant Wilber, Guess Leonard, Macee Hammack, and Madi Baughman.
AFR sponsored several awards at the Connors State College Cattle Grading contest this week in Warner, OK.
Whitney Wilkinson, Cement, Okla., has begun a summer internship program at American Farmers & Ranchers in Oklahoma City. Wilkinson’s duties will focus on working with AFR’s youth program, specifically leadership summit, and other programs such as the LEAD program.
Micaela Danker has joined AFR as the AFR Youth Leadership Development Coordinator. Danker, whose family has a small livestock business near Wellston, Okla., earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Communications from Oklahoma State University. She has been involved in AFR youth programs since participating in AFR’s youth leadership summit as a first grade elementary student.
AFR spnsored the Redlands Community College livestock judging contest April 12. We had over 400 entries!
More than 225 Oklahoma FFA, 4-H members and adults participated in the annual commercial cattle grading school and contest, April 8, at OKC West Livestock Market, Inc., El Reno, Oklahoma.
